LOUIS (A) - St. Louis (A)'s right-hander Andy Coakley experienced probably the worst case scenario for a pitcher, a season ending injury. After pitching in the 3rd inning of the game against Washington, Coakley complained about serious pain in his throwing arm. He had to leave the game. St. Louis (A) wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Coakley had suffered a Torn Ligament Elbow. Chicago (A)'s right-hander Frosty Thomas will not pitch for at least 6 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against New York (A) where he left the field in the 3rd inning. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Ruptured Elbow Ligament. Sunday 5/14/1912: Season ending injury strikes Detroit's Jackson DETROIT - Detroit's centerfielder Joe Jackson suffered a season ending injury when he hurt himself diving for a ball. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Torn Rib Cage Muscle. Surgery will be performed next week. Wednesday 5/10/1912: Christy Mathewson pitches 2-hit shutout against Cincinnati PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh's right-hander Christy Mathewson is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Cincinnati on just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 36th time he has done it in his career. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Fortunately they were not able to adjust in time.' Mathewson (8-2) fanned 6 and walked 1, throwing 136 pitches. Friday 5/5/1912: Frank Wickware quiets Boston (A) bats with shutout CLEVELAND - Cleveland's right-hander Frank Wickware is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Boston (A) found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Wickware 2nd shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 10th shutouts in his career.
